Role OverviewMercor is partnering with a financial services firm to support a series of core accounting operations projects. We are looking for experienced accounting professionals to assist with high-priority workflows related to bank reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable / receivable, asset depreciation, and more. These tasks are essential for accurate financial reporting and audit readiness. This is a flexible, short-term contract opportunity well-suited for detail-oriented experts in accounting operations.
- Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank statements against the general ledger and document all reconciling items - Post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and account codes - Enter and code accounts payable invoices, matching to purchase orders when required - Apply incoming cash receipts to outstanding accounts receivable - Calculate monthly depreciation for fixed assets and post related journal entries - Perform AP / AR subledger to general ledger reconciliations - Reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare elimination entries for consolidation - Match credit card expenses with receipts, flag discrepancies, and reconcile to GL - Maintain prepaid amortization schedules and post monthly expenses - Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies - Compile monthly financial statements and perform balance sheet flux analysis - Analyze budget vs. actual variances and document material explanations - Resolve three-way invoice matching exceptions in the AP system - Estimate and post accruals for month-end close - Prepare audit schedules tied to the trial balance and compile supporting documentation
- Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial operations - Familiarity with systems like QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or SAP - Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial close processes - Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities - Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills - Experience with Excel-based reconciliations and journal entry preparation
