About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 18 months Med / Tele RN experience required

License : Current RN License

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

• Stroke experience
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Tracheostomy care
• Peripheral IV starts
• Chest tube management
• Nasogastric tube placement
• Drain / tube management including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, and foley insertion / management
• Medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids

Description :

This position is for an RN specializing in Medical Surgical / Telemetry.

The facility has 207 licensed beds and is not designated as a trauma center.

It offers services including chest pain and stroke care.

Patients on the unit include those with end-stage renal disease, fluid overload, sickle cell disease, diabetes, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, and pancreatitis.

Patient ratios are 1 : 5-6, with potential critical surge ratios of 1 : 7-8.

Support staff includes certified nursing assistants and a charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments.

There are additional support services such as phlebotomy and respiratory therapy available 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring is provided.

The role requires floating to other units within the health system as needed.

Schedule includes weekend rotations every other week and holiday expectations where travelers will work 75% of holidays.

Up to six days off can be approved, excluding holidays, with time added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met.

Scrub colors are navy.
