Join our dedicated team at the CHA Eye Center, located in the Highland Building at Somerville Hospital, and make a real difference in patients' lives! We are offering a potential sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for certified Ophthalmic Technicians (COT) based on experience.

The CHA Eye Center provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, addressing conditions such as diabetic eye care, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and more. Our practice features a full optical shop to meet all vision needs, making it a one-stop destination for routine exams and advanced treatments.

Job Purpose : As an Ophthalmic Healthcare Technician, you will work under the supervision of the Ophthalmology Practice Manager and the Chief of Ophthalmology. You will utilize your knowledge and skills in clinical evaluation, patient management, and technical support to assist our team in providing excellent patient care. Your responsibilities will include performing necessary pre-exam tests and assisting in minor surgical and laser procedures.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare patients for their visits with Ophthalmologists
• Triage telephone inquiries and document in patient charts
• Open and close examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and organized
• Conduct visual field tests, a-scans, and corneal topography
• Perform accurate refractions and comprehensive medical work-ups
• Assist with fundus photography and prepare fluorescein syringes
• Check the cleanliness and maintenance of all equipment
• Support Ophthalmologists during minor and laser procedures
• Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize tasks

Minimum Qualifications :

High School Diploma or equivalent, with certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.
