Description

The purpose of this position is to install all process control equipment at the wastewater plant. Troubleshoot and repair all malfunctioning equipment and instruments on site. Maintain records of all calibrations, maintenance activities and warranties. Upgrade manufacture and install new equipment.

This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Examples of Duties

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Performs routine and emergency maintenance on analog, digital, electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment and networks used to collect, process, transmit, receive and record data, and to regulate the operation of the final control elements in various treatment processes or equipment.
• Performs periodic inspections, testing, adjustments, calibrations and servicing activities necessary to assure that proper operation and compliance requirements are met for process instrumentation and control systems in treatment processes and equipment.
• Conducts periodic plant operational integrity and safety tests to verify the proper operation of fire detectors, hazardous and explosive gas detectors, process alarm instrumentation, protective monitoring systems, and computerized control system fault detection and failover functions.
• Completes operational systems tests and fault diagnostics to identify and correct electrical, pneumatic and electric analog and computer system failures; employ computer system diagnostic programs, computer control console switches and indicators, and logic analyzers to locate and replace defective circuit boards and modules in computers and computer peripherals and repairs digital interfaces.
• Collects and evaluates component failure data as required to develop and maintain an inventory of replacement components and parts at a level adequate to insure expedient field repairs.
• Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
• Provides for the documentation of maintenance activities, including the preparation, cataloging, and filing of maintenance service reports.
• Maintains availability with after-hours call duty and as needed emergency responses.
• Maintains organization of assigned work areas and vehicles.
• Routinely participates in employee safety and development training programs.
• Performs related work as assigned.
