American Consultants is seeking a local contract Surgical Technician for a local contract job in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech) for a 12-week local contract assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment, and be committed to supporting high-quality patient outcomes. This position is ideal for OR techs seeking consistent work without long-term travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and registered nurses during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
  • Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment before, during, and after procedures.
  • Handle and label specimens correctly.
  • Follow strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure smooth procedure flow.
  • Assist with room turnover and restocking supplies.

    • Qualifications

  • Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required (hospital setting preferred).
  • BLS certification required .
  • Knowledge of general, orthopedic, neuro, and / or cardiac cases is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must live within local commuting distance (no housing provided).
