Job Title : Life Science Research Professional l
Location : Stanford, CA (30 hours or 40 hours per week - both are fine)
Job Duration : 12+m Contract
Primary Skills :
- 2 years of prior lab technician / assistant experience in a wet lab
- Proficiency in cell culture and aseptic techniques
- Wet-lab experiment execution & data analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neurobiology / Neuroscience, or Bioengineering with substantial laboratory coursework; or Master's degree in a related scientific field
- Proficiency in cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Desired : Experience working with vertebrate animals (i.e., mouse or rat models).
- Required to perform work with a minimum of error and less day-to-day supervision.
- Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles.
- General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent judgement.
- Strong organizational skills required to manage complex sample inventories and maintain accurate records of experiments and outcomes.
- General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principals to problem solve work.
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance is essential.
Preferred :
Experience working with vertebrate animals (i.e., mouse or rat models).Interest in regenerative neurobiology and discovering new treatments for patients affected by facial paralysisResponsibilities :
Independently conduct complex experiments to gather data for a portion of major research project(s).Interpret and analyze results, often where few guidelines exist, and make modifications to existing procedures and protocols.Develop new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required.Participate in multidisciplinary teams across different faculties or schools.Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new procedures and related research; apply to ongoing research and development of new protocols.Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section, and to publication of findings. Present ongoing work to colleagues and / or academic conferences.Oversee supply and equipment budget under supervision of Research Scientist or Principal Investigator.Supervise (either formally or informally) staff or students as needed, including oversight and direction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.Serve as a technical resource for other research staff.Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory including lab maintenance; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed. May assist with purchasing laboratory equipment.Description :
Stanford University – Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 or 2 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects and independently conduct and analyze experiments related to nerve injury and nerve regeneration. The candidate will work closely with a lead Research Scientist on research projects, sharing data, assist in preparation of data for manuscripts and grant submissions.
