We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary leader to join MassMutual’s Research & Development (R&D) organization as the Head of AI Platform Engineering. In this key role, you will be responsible for MassMutual’s technology strategy. Cut through hype, drive beyond prototypes, and deliver scalable, performant AI systems with us!
The Team
The Research and Development organization is focused on delivering transformational change for MassMutual and its clients, financial professionals, and policyholders. We are a team of data scientists, engineers, social scientists, and product and project managers committed to innovation. We value creativity, courage, and accountability as well as our close partnerships with academia, government agencies, and the broader fintech community.
The Impact :
- Architect and build the core platform for applied , secure, and efficient AI / ML platform engineering to support a broad range of AI workloads
- Prototype and productionize agentic workflows and LLM-based systems that drive impact across the value chain
- through the automation, deployment, scaling, and management of AI platform services, ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience
- Be a talent magnet by attracting, developing, and retaining a world‑class team of high‑performing engineers
- Shape strategy in partnership with R&D leadership and senior executives across the enterprise
- Lead cross‑functional teams of AI platform engineers, ML engineers, and decision engineers to deliver robust, production‑ready AI solutions
- Collaborate with product managers, researchers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define and execute AI strategies aligned with company objectives.
The Minimum Qualifications
Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or related disciplines10+ years of relevant engineering experience5+ years of experience in managing research or engineering teamsExceptional problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn new concepts, methods, and technologiesAbility to work in a highly collaborative environmentOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsThe Ideal Qualifications
