Job description

Job Description

The Structural Engineer is responsible for assisting with a variety of Structural projects focused in both rural and urban Alaska.

Responsibilities

  • Use computer aided design technology for simulation purposes. Master CAD software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, RISA 3D) for design and simulation. Familiarity with structural analysis tools.
  • Prepare reports, designs and drawings.
  • Make structural calculations about pressures, loads and stresses. It is expected for you to strengthen your ability to calculate pressures, loads, and stresses. Practice with real-world scenarios, especially for extreme conditions like Alaska's climate (e.g., permafrost, seismic activity) while in this position.
  • It is expected for you to deepen your understanding of construction materials suited for cold, remote environments (e.g., corrosion-resistant materials for coastal or industrial infrastructure and / or lightweight options for rural projects) while in this position.

  • Build experience working in cross-functional roles and teams.
  • Assist in administering contracts and managing projects.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
