A Swine Feed Mill QA Lab Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of feed ingredients and finished feed products in a feed mill setting. The key duties and requirements of this role typically include :
Core Responsibilities :
- Sample collection and testing : Collect and prepare samples of feed, conduct laboratory tests to assess quality, composition, and detect any potential contaminants.
- Documentation : Maintain clear, accurate records of test results and quality checks, ensuring all findings are properly documented.
- Equipment maintenance : Set up, use, and clean laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and compliance with safety protocols.
- Data analysis and reporting : Analyze nutrient content, report results, and support troubleshooting of any quality issues in the feed products.
- Compliance : Ensure all testing and processes adhere to regulatory standards and company quality assurance policies.
- Support QA processes : Assist with audits, participate in continuous improvement efforts, and help resolve non-conformance issues.
Typical Qualifications :
Education : Associate degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Biology, or a related field; sometimes a high school diploma with relevant experience is accepted.Skills : Attention to detail, ability to follow standardized protocols, basic understanding of laboratory testing and QA principles, and proficiency with data analysis tools.Experience : Prior laboratory or quality control experience is often preferred, as is knowledge of feed mill operations or animal nutrition.Physical Demands and Work Environment :
Extended time walking or standing; ability to lift materials (up to 40 lbs).Work may be on concrete or slippery surfaces, and requires clarity of vision for close work.Relevant Technologies :
