Position OverviewAveanna Education Services is seeking Certified Special Education Teachers in Housatonic, Massuchusetts (Pittsfield Metro Area).The open positions are in a public school for students grades K-12 with autism, developmental disabilities, and communication disorders.The Special Education teacher will create and maintain a superior academic environment by developing and implementing a classroom structure consistent with the needs of each student and the classroom in its entirety.Location : Berkshire Meadows School JRI - Housatonic, MAService Settings : School-based servicesSchedule : 7 : 30am to 3 : 30pmGrades : K-12Caseload : Within agency guidelines, includes travel timeHR / Clearance Requirements : TB TestPA State Police Clearance (Act 34)FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)Mandated Reporter TrainingSome responsibilities include : Developing and implementing lesson plansMeet and instruct classesWrite and implement IEPsInitiate student evaluations and document progressCreate an instructional environment for appropriate development of studentsCollaborate effectively with related-services staff to address the students’ needsEssential Job FunctionsDevelop and implement lesson plans and modify instruction to meet the individual needs of studentsProvide behavioral managementMonitor, evaluate and report on students' progressAttend and participate in meetingsRequirementsSpecial Education Degree : A Bachelor's of Science in Education with an emphasis in teaching students with special needs is recommended.Required Tests and Endorsements : Valid state-issued teacher certification with special education endorsement is required.Academic Verification : Provide proof of completing an accredited educator preparation program.Preferred experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsPhysical DemandsMust be able to speak, write, read and understand EnglishMust be able to lift up to 50 poundsProlonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twistingMust be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistanceEnvironmentMust be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
