SUMMARY :
The Laundry Aide is responsible for performing day-to-day laundry operations in accordance with established facility policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local standards. This position helps ensure that the facility provides high-quality, sanitary laundry services that protect the health, safety, and well-being of all residents. The Laundry Aide works under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager. Housekeeping Manager works under the direction of the Administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Sort soiled laundry, linens, and garments appropriately, including separating items requiring special treatment or stain removal.
- Operate washers and dryers according to procedures.
- Fold, count, hang, stack, and distribute clean laundry and linens to resident rooms and designated areas daily or as instructed.
- Clean laundry rooms, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping walls and ceilings, and disinfecting equipment and surfaces.
- Remove dust, dirt, lint, grease, or residue from laundry equipment and floor surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions.
- Safely discard waste and trash, and reline containers with new liners per sanitation procedures.
- Ensure work areas remain free from hazards such as spills, excess carts, or supplies.
- Store equipment, tools, and supplies properly during breaks and at the end of shifts.
- Coordinate laundry services with nursing staff for resident areas as needed.
- Follow infection control protocols and use protective equipment when handling contaminated laundry or bodily fluids.
- Ensure laundry equipment is cleaned and ready for the next shift.
- Promptly report equipment malfunctions, hazards, supply needs, or incidents to the supervisor.
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and protect their personal belongings.
- Attend department meetings, in-services, and job training as scheduled or instructed.
- Follow facility fire, disaster, and evacuation procedures.
- Complete and submit time-off requests, supply sheets, and medical forms in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager, or Administrator.
