Job Description
The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates to support the operations of Post Award Research Administration within the Dean's Office as a grants finance associate.
This position is an entry level position which supports grants and contracts administrators and specialists of the Post-award Office in managing research funds throughout the School.
This position will assist with financial functions in the School, including, but not limited to :
Review notice of awards.
Preparation of monthly account reconciliations
Preparation of monthly reports detailing PIs budget balance.
Assist / prepare journal entries, payroll adjustment as well as other accounting adjustment.
Assist in reviewing expense reports and / or other Workday Inbox Tasks
Assist in clearing deficits and developing financial projections
Assist in responding to reporting / sponsor inquiries
Assist in developing SOPs & training materials Supporting other grants and contracts administrators as needed
The ideal candidate for the position should be excited to learn new systems and skills and :
Exhibit a strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity and creativity.
Be creative and take initiative to develop workable solutions to problems when answers are not readily apparent.
Have excellent communication skills both electronically and verbally.
Demonstrate an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
Demonstrate a proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as a desire to develop advanced skills.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of other Microsoft Office products.
Anticipated Hiring Range : $45,000 - $50,000. Starting salary commensurate with education and experience.
This position facilitates hybrid work arrangement. The candidate is expected to be in the office 3 days a week.
Foundation-level for learned profession; active learner from more experienced colleagues. Contributor on a project or work team. Work is closely supervised. Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. Explains facts, policies, and practices related to Job Area.
This position will remain open until filled. This is an exempt level, benefited position. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
