Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele Pulmonary position in an acute care, trauma level 1 setting requiring a SD or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a combined 30-bed medical-surgical unit and 8-bed progressive care unit with the ability to flex up to 41 beds
  • Care provided for a diverse pulmonary patient population, including both non-COVID and COVID cases
  • Average patient diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and complex respiratory conditions
  • Patient ratios are 1 : 4 / 5 on day shifts and 1 : 5 / 6 on night shifts in Med-Surg; 1 : 3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC RNs
  • Mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy, IV medication administration, and cardiac monitoring performed
  • Uses Epic for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medication administration
  • Required to float to Med-Surg units with travelers given first reassignment
  • Day / night rotating 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Responsibilities include respiratory and telemetry assessments, administering specialized therapies, monitoring during bronchoscopies, and providing postoperative care
  • Comprehensive unit-specific orientation and competency validation provided during first three shifts including mechanical ventilation and telemetry
  • Supportive team culture focused on patient safety, quality care, and professional development
  • Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Assignment is open to local candidates; addresses within 80 miles are considered local
  • Travelers with prior employment at this health system must have a minimum six-month separation before consideration

  • Active SD or compact state RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg Tele experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
  • Proficiency in Bipap, Cpap, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and medical-surgical patient care
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
