We're hiring a Civil Subject Matter Expert to serve as the on-site technical authority for the civil scope of utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. This is a field-first role—you will live on the jobsite rotation as needed, partnering with EPCs, contractors, and the owner's team to drive constructability, quality, cost, and schedule from pre-construction through commissioning. Prior office / design coordination experience is a plus, but the work is 100% site execution. The project sites are across Texas.

What You'll Do

  • Own the civil scope on site : Lead daily coordination for grading / earthwork, stormwater / drainage, access roads, foundations, and BOP civil interfaces.
  • Ensure compliance & constructability : Verify survey control; validate grading models, cut / fill, compaction, haul routes, and road sections; enforce SWPPP / E&S controls.
  • Interpret IFC plans, submit RFIs, review submittals, manage redlines / as-builts, and drive value-engineering solutions.
  • Quality & risk management : Establish QA / QC checks, witness tests / inspections, track NCRs and corrective actions; identify risks early and implement mitigations.
  • Schedule & cost support : Maintain 2–4 week look-ahead plans, track quantities and productivity, validate pay apps / change orders for civil work.
  • Documentation & turnover : Maintain photo logs, field sketches, as-builts, punch lists, and civil turnover packages.
  • Safety leadership : Champion site safety; integrate civil means / methods into JHAs, traffic / lift plans, and daily briefings.
  • What You'll Bring

  • Experience : 7–12+ years in civil construction for utility-scale solar or comparable large industrial / linear projects (renewables, T&D, data centers, heavy civil). Extensive field execution required.
  • Technical depth : Mass grading, drainage / hydrology, erosion & sediment control, access roads, foundations, survey control, machine control / GPS workflows.
  • Tools : Proficiency with Civil 3D (for plan interpretation / markups), Bluebeam, and quantity takeoffs; working knowledge of hydrology / stormwater tools (Hydraflow, HEC-HMS / HEC-RAS or similar). Drone / orthomosaic and GPS / machine-control familiarity is a plus.
  • Standards : SWPPP, IBC, state / local grading and stormwater ordinances; comfort interpreting geotechnical reports and survey deliverables.
  • Soft skills : Clear communicator, decisive in the field, collaborative with EPCs and subcontractors; proven ability to mentor field engineers and foremen.
  • Credentials : BS in Civil Engineering or related field preferred. PE strongly preferred (or ability to obtain). OSHA-30 (or willingness to obtain). Valid driver's license.
  • Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-hundred-MW solar programs, BESS co-location, and T&D interconnect civil interfaces.
  • Prior office / design coordination (RFIs, submittals, grading model review) to expedite field decisions.
  • Exposure to earned value, production tracking, and change-order development for civil scopes.
  • #LI-TK1
