Safety Officer IV or V - Fleet Operations Division

Essential Duties
- Maintain a comprehensive hazard communication and safety program for the division.
- Monitor compliance with MSDS requirements and recommend updates to the SPCC plan.
- Administer the new employee driver orientation program and the vehicle safety program.
- Coordinate safety meetings and conduct training on defensive driving, CPR, first aid, fleet safety, and hazardous materials.
- Inspect equipment and work areas; investigate employee accidents; prepare reports and maintain records; recommend preventative actions and conduct follow-up investigations.
- Plan, schedule, and administer training on safety issues and monitor programs that promote employee safety and accident prevention.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, or a closely related discipline (years of experience may substitute for the degree on a year-per-year basis).3 years of experience in occupational safety for Safety Officer IV; 4 years for Safety Officer V.Valid driver's license; one of the professional safety designations (ASC, CSHO, ASP, CSP, OHST, etc.) must be obtained within one year of employment.OSHA 500 Trainer Course and OSHA 501 Trainer Course required for Safety Officer V.Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver's license.Professional safety designation within one year of employment.OSHA 500 and OSHA 501 Trainer certifications for Safety Officer V.Competencies
Experience with construction, maintenance, and operation of transportation facilities.Knowledge of hazardous materials storage, transport, and industrial hygiene procedures.Ability to develop and implement safety programs and deliver training.Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Sedentary work : Lift up to 10 lbs occasionally; light work : lift up to 20 lbs sometimes.Standing for prolonged periods; repetitive wrist and hand motions.Requires close visual acuity; computer work; extensive reading.Conditions of Employment

Based in multiple Texas locations (Abilene, Amarillo, Atlanta, Austin, Beaumont, Bryan, etc.). The role will travel to Division Fleet Operations Equipment Shops for site inspections and safety program recommendations. Additionally, the officer will coordinate an annual Safety Banquet, Safety Awards, and monthly safety meetings.
Salary and Benefits
Safety Officer IV : B23 – $61,184 to $99,658.
Safety Officer V : B25 – $69,572 to $114,099.
