Assistant Professor in AI & Politics - Department of Political Science
The Ohio State University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Political Science. Successful applicants will have research and teaching interests in any of the following areas : the regulatory, political, or ethical challenges of the burgeoning reliance on AI in the public and / or private sectors; the social and political consequences of reliance on algorithmic approaches to public policy implementation; methodological development at the intersection of social science and AI / machine learning. The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and will begin in August 2026. Preferred applicants will demonstrate the potential for a sustained and substantial body of work in one or more of these areas. The position is open with respect to substantive focus or disciplinary subfield in Political Science. This position is part of The Ohio State University Provost's investment in Socio-Political Analysis and AI.

Required Applicants must complete their PhD on or before August 15, 2026, in a relevant field, and have the capacity to integrate methodological insights with substantive research demonstrated through a record of and / or promise of scholarly excellence.
Desired Demonstrate the potential for external grant funding and mentoring undergraduate or graduate students. Preferred candidates will show a willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaborative efforts. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building an intellectual community in line with OSU's Shared Values.
