This position will be responsible for managing a team of claims examiners possessing varied experience levels. This position will oversee the resolution of claims with low to high complexity and provide direction coaching and training. This position will report to the Senior Director of claims and be responsible for conveying the organizations objectives and priorities to staff and measure progress towards stated goals.

Job Description

• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
• Direct and monitor assignments of new loss activity for environmental claims
• Review and approve correspondence and reports including coverage position letters and Large Loss Reports
• Review and approve reserves and settlements in excess of theauthority of the handling specialist
• Make recommendations concerning reserve changes to Director or Senior Management
• Participate in review and discussion of large loss activity inthe environmental book with interested stakeholders (UW PL Actuarial Executive Management)
• Ensure that team adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internalperformance objectives
• Assess and evaluate individual specialist and team performance provide feedback and develop training needs
• Prepare and distribute reports by collecting and summarizing information
• Assist in preparation of budgets evaluation of expenses and assess resource needs
• Foster and encourage strong relationships with internal stakeholders (UW PL Actuarial)
• Promote and enhance strong relationships with customers and channel partners
• Participate in special projects as requested
• Travel to other claim offices mediations trials and conferences as required
