Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., a leader in fire protection solutions, is seeking a talented Research & Development Engineer to join our engineering team focused on the design and advancement of fire sprinkler heads and related technologies. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong mechanical background, hands-on design experience, and a passion for innovation in life-safety products.
How You Will Help
- Lead and support the design, development, and testing of new fire sprinkler products, with emphasis on pressure dynamics, water flow, and sealing technologies.
- Apply solid mechanical engineering principles to design components that meet rigorous safety, performance, and compliance standards.
- Create, refine, and maintain 3D models, drawings, and documentation using solid modeling tools (flexibility regarding specific CAD platforms).
- Conduct laboratory and field testing, analyze results, and recommend design improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and regulatory affairs to ensure product designs are production-ready and compliant with industry standards (UL, FM, NFPA, etc.).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives on existing product lines.
- Stay current on industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
What You Will Bring
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience, preferably in product design or R&D within a manufacturing environment.Proven hands-on design experience with fluid dynamics (pressure, water flow) and sealing systems.Strong proficiency in solid modeling and 3D design software (specific platform flexible).Demonstrated ability to test, validate, and troubleshoot product designs.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.Preferred Skills
Experience in the fire protection industry or related regulated industries.Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (UL, FM, NFPA).Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, or other structured engineering methodologies.Work Environment :
Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety / health hazard potentialRole is a 100% onsite rolePhysical Demands :
Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basisThe person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed.
