St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 associates. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children.
St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.
Job Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the steam plant. Maintains the boilers and ancillary equipment of the Boiler Room to provide an adequate steam utility in a safe and efficient manner.
Monitors and adjusts Building Automation System (BAS) to ensure systems are operating correctly (steam, chilled water, domestic hot water, air handling setpoints and refrigeration / freezer)
Inspects, monitors, performs preventative maintenance and documents all equipment within the boiler / chiller plant. Maintains plant cleanliness and addresses any issues.
Ensures all documentation meets Joint Commission and Department of Public Health requirements
Maintains and monitors fire panel, medical air, medical vacuum, oxygen, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and medical carbon dioxide service
Perform daily C-rounds on all underground storage tanks
Coordinates the projects and maintenance performed by contractors
Monitors work order system and places requests to perform repairs when needed
Ensures inspections meet Joint Commission (JC) & Department of Public Health (DPH) requirements.
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
2 years of boiler plant experience required
Valid CT Heating, Piping and Cooling (S1) license required
Valid CT Heating, Piping and Cooling (S2) license and Valid CT Operating Stationary Engineer (OE2) license preferred
Must obtain OE2 license within 120 days of employment
