Job Title : Web Programmer

Responsibilities
- Serve as one of the developers for the VCU enterprise research administration systems, supporting the research enterprise in grant submission and management, IACUC protocol management / review, conflict of interest management, export control, and core research service billing / invoicing.
- Implement detailed technical specifications in the ERA system by developing new code and improving existing systems.
- Work to improve the product experience and iterate on new products and features through collaboration with analysts and stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of new functions and applications.
- Write accessible and maintainable JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
Minimum Hiring Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Design, or other relevant degree.Experience designing and building websites using utility-first CSS frameworks.Experience using modern vanilla JavaScript / TypeScript (without jQuery, React, etc.) and build tools like Webpack.Knowledge of template engines like Twig, Pebble, or Blade Templates.Familiarity with how PHP / Symfony interacts with front-end systems.Experience building user-friendly features and software components with good performance.A solid technical understanding of how to build systems and UI patterns within a complex technical environment.Strong communication skills to convey design goals and processes clearly to team members and stakeholders.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate complex technical requirements.Self-motivation and willingness to evolve skills and share with others.Experience fostering a diverse environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.Preferred Hiring Requirements
Experience designing and building websites using Tailwind CSS.Experience with automated / unit testing.Experience with Docker.PHP development experience.Exposure to university research principles or research administration.Additional Information
