Research Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacologist-CVM

Come help us develop breakthrough medicines for cardiovascular disease! We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology team in the Cardiovascular and Metabolic (CVM) Disease Area at Novartis BioMedical Research.

As an In Vivo Pharmacologist, you will work independently and collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary setting to execute experiments in preclinical models, analyze data, write study reports and give oral presentations to support drug discovery, while broadening your knowledge in the field.

This position will be located at Cambridge, MA and will not have the ability to be located remote.

About the Role

Key responsibilities :

Assist in the design, execution, analysis, and documentation of pre-clinical in vivo experiments in rodent models

Plan and perform pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic (PK / PD) studies, including compound dosing (SC, PO, IV), blood sample and tissue collection

Perform biochemical analyses on samples

Assist in data analysis and interpretation

Present results in lab and department meetings

Role Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific field and 2+ years of related laboratory experience

Master's degree with related laboratory experience

Experience in handling, dosing (SC, PO, IV), and phenotyping rodent models of disease, ideally with an emphasis on cardiometabolic disorders

Proven expertise in In Vivo experimental design and execution

Cardiovascular disease drug discovery experience desirable

Histology experience, including tissue processing and sectioning (particularly cardiovascular tissues), is preferred

Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists

Basic knowledge of statistics and experience with common statistical software for biomedical research

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Strong written, oral and record keeping skills

The salary for this position is expected to range between Research Scientist I : $60,600- $112,600 / year | Research Scientist II : $77,000-$143,00 / year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
