experience, references, and interview results. Hourly rate placement contingent upon

verification of related WA public school experience.

This position is included in the classified staff non-supervisory bargaining unit. Union shop

requirements and the Collective Bargaining Agreement apply to this position.

Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and

background check with fee to be paid by applicant.

Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once / month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August.

Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.

Eligibility for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs / day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities : Omni 403(b) and Deferred

Compensation Plan. Personal leave, vacation leave (260-day employees only), and sick leave prorated based on FTE.

Job Description : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

JOB POSTING

Responsible to : Director of Special & Support Services & Certificated ESA Registered Nurse (RN)

Work Year : 180 Days / 6.50 hours per day 1 year only

Under the direction of the certificated ESA RN, the building level CNA will provide student-centered health care in the educational setting. The CNA will perform nursing skills in a safe, component, therapeutic manner, including : feeding, toileting, transferring, positioning, taking vital signs, administering nurse-delegated medications and treatments, activating the health emergency plan, and participating in emergency care.

Minimum Qualification :

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Valid CPR / First Aid certificate
  • At least 2 years CNA experience in inpatient or residential settings preferred
  • Previous successful experience in education, social work or other related occupation
  • preferred.
  • Desire and aptitude to work with children and / or young adults with special needs is
  • required.
  • Knowledge and skills of computer applications used to assist with student data
  • management.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team situation.
  • Ability and willingness to work with a diverse student population in a culturally responsive
  • manner.
  • Organizational skills and flexibility to respond to changing student needs.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with staff, supervisors and students.
  • Must be able to function in a calm, efficient, courteous manner under stress and to
  • exercise careful judgment, confidentiality and tact in the performance of duties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours
  • specified under contract.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Work cohesively with students, parents and staff in providing health care and components of health education
  • Provide first aid for students and staff in a variety of situations
  • Administer medications consistent with doctor's orders as delegated by the certificated ESA RN.
  • Keep the certificated ESA RN informed of accidents, injuries, and illnesses requiring medical intervention
  • Assist the certificated ESA RN in, monitoring and information gathering for the purposes of case management
  • Follow Individualized Health Plans (IHPs), and assist the certificated ESA RN with care planning for field trips, and emerging student health needs
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings as directed by the certificated ESA RN as mandated by state regulations
  • Participate as a team member in the attendance process
  • Participate as a team member in promoting illness and injury prevention programs
  • Observe strict confidentiality regarding student and personnel information
  • Promote and practice professional growth and development
  • Follow nursing procedures required for school attendance to both the general education student populations and the medically handicapped population.
  • Alert staff to health concerns on a "need to know" basis
  • Follow health related Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and attend IEP meetings, within contracted working hours, when requested by the certificated ESA nurse
  • Follow health related policies and procedures
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours Comply with all District policies and procedures
  • Perform such other duties as delegated by certificated ESA RN.

    Education and / or Experience :

    High School diploma

    Nursing Assistant Certification

    At least 2 years CNA experience in inpatient or residential settings preferred

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

    Valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification to be maintained during duration of employment

    Valid First Aid and CPR training to be maintained during duration of employment Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to obtain Type II license - Is this necessary?

    Language Skills :

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students and parents.

    Mathematical Skills :

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to accurately determine medication dosage per physician prescription.

    Reasoning Ability :

    Ability to solve practical or complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
