Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in an acute care setting with a trauma level II requirement and Epic charting experience.
Responsibilities
Work on a 30-bed Med / Surg unit within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes post-op total joints, spinal and urology procedures, abdominal and bariatric surgeries, medical overflow, and patients with hemovacs, JP drains, and colostomiesDay shift, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930), with first to float expectationsEvery other weekend and holiday coverage requiredNurse to patient ratios : Days 1 : 4-5, Nights 1 : 5-6Will float to medical and telemetry units as neededEpic EMR system is used on this unitCharge nurse present on both shifts, with nights occasionally taking low acuity assignmentSupport staff includes a patient care tech with a 1 : 12 tech to patient ratioRemote tele packs used, monitor tech is responsible for reading and interpreting stripsBlock scheduling may be considered depending on unit needsRole includes frequent care of post-operative and surgical patients, early ambulation, and management of drainsBedside shift report is standard practice on this unitPositive, close-knit team culture is emphasizedAny color scrubs may be wornFirst time travelers are welcome to applyRequested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and may not exceed 7 days over the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approvedRequirements
Active ND or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of Med / Surg RN experience requiredCurrent BLS certification requiredSupply a copy of a valid driver’s licenseEpic charting experience preferredSurgical, post-op, and early ambulation experience is highly preferredMust provide two professional references (one supervisor from the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years)Candidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facilityBenefits
