Travel Nurse RN - Pediatric Med / Surg - $2,146 per week in Long Beach, CA

The facility allows local candidates within a certain distance to apply. Start date for this position is as soon as possible. Shifts are 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30. The unit primarily serves patients ages 2 days to 21 years old. Typical patient diagnoses include all types of medical and surgical conditions, including trauma. During the respiratory season, patient census may increase. Candidates will float to various areas, including Hematology / Oncology, General Pediatrics, NICU, and PICU. Patients in Hem / Onc may include those in sickle cell crisis or waiting for lab results. Chemo administration will be supported by Hem / Onc staff as needed. No transplantation or ventilation patients are cared for in this unit. The nursing staff must demonstrate skills in a variety of pediatric care procedures. Patient ratios are 4 : 1 for both day and night shifts. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Pre-approved time off is at the discretion of management. Documentation is performed using an electronic system. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Additional specialized patient care includes management of various medical equipment. Candidates must have the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a busy environment. A reference from a previous employer within the last 2 years is required. Previous permanent staff are not eligible to apply for this position.
