Histology Technologist

Pride Health is hiring for a Histology Technologist (Histotechnologist) to support our client's facility in Danville, PA 17822 . This is a 28-week contract opportunity , offering competitive pay and the chance to work with one of the nation's most respected healthcare systems.

Job Summary :

The Histology Technologist is responsible for processing and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologists. This role ensures the highest standards of quality and accuracy in specimen handling, embedding, sectioning, and staining, supporting timely and precise diagnoses for patient care.

Key Responsibilities :

• Process and prepare tissue specimens using automated and manual methods to ensure proper fixation.
• Identify and determine appropriate tissue orientation for embedding in paraffin.
• Perform microtomy at designated microns to produce high-quality tissue sections.
• Conduct routine and special staining procedures to distinguish cells and organisms for diagnostic purposes.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, participate in preventive maintenance programs, and report any equipment issues.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of specimens and reagents.
• Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors of low supply levels.
• Participate in quality control and improvement programs, ensuring accuracy in specimen identification and documentation.
• Contribute to the training and orientation of new staff members.
• Stay up to date on laboratory information systems and standard operating procedures.

Local Pay : $35 - $38 / Hour

Travel Gross Pay : $1800- $2000 / Week
