Under direction of registered nurse in the assigned department reporting to the Practice Manager, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic ambulatory activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient procedures, administering medications, point of care testing, health maintenance screening, collecting and preparing laboratory tests and patient education. Familiarity with insulin pumps, insulin administration, insulin vials / syringes / pens, glucose meters, remote monitoring, continuous glucose monitors, thyroid FNA biopsy, osteoporosis treatments and management.

The LVN will support with patient bone health assessments during "nurse visits," monitoring vital signs, tracking bone density and fall risk factors, and providing patient education on osteoporosis management. The LVN will assist with nurse visits for follow-up between MD visits as needed to ensure proper medication administration and access. The LVN plays a critical role in facilitating patient adherence to osteoporosis treatment plans by offering ongoing monitoring, assisting the interdisciplinary care team in managing patient symptoms along with the clinic RN, and supporting lifestyle modifications to prevent fractures and promote bone health.

In addition to bone health support, the LVN will assist with the care of patients managing Diabetes, thyroid conditions, and other general endocrine disorders. Responsibilities include monitoring blood glucose levels, supporting insulin and other medication education and administration, and reinforcing dietary and lifestyle guidance to support glycemic control. For thyroid patients, the LVN will help track symptoms, medication adherence, and labs related to thyroid function, ensuring patients remain within therapeutic targets. The LVN will also participate in general endocrine care by performing routine assessments, educating patients about their conditions and medications, and supporting follow-up care coordination between provider visits. Through regular communication and hands-on support, the LVN enhances patient engagement, adherence to care plans, and overall health outcomes in collaboration with the broader endocrine care team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience.
• Requires knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
• Strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting a professional demeanor to function effectively in diverse clinical / healthcare and community settings as well as possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both through written and oratory methods) to diverse audiences.

Annual Full Pay Range : $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $35.91 - $44.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
