The Environmental Services Technician II supports the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department by ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the healthcare facility. The role includes cleaning and supplying patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, nursing stations, offices, waiting areas, and other assigned locations in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Technician consistently demonstrates professionalism, delivers outstanding customer service, and maintains high-quality environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning and restocking tasks in patient care areas, treatment rooms, public areas, offices, and other assigned locations.
Use appropriate cleaning products, equipment, and supplies to ensure effective sanitation and safety.
Remove trash and soiled linen from facility areas in a timely manner.
Maintain knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures, including use of specialized equipment, Quality Control standards, and basic preventive maintenance.
Complete high-level, time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning tasks, such as terminal cleaning, isolation room cleaning, discharges, ED cleaning, and operative area sanitation.
Perform specialty floor care and carpet care, including stripping / refinishing floors and extracting / disinfecting carpet and upholstery.
Participate in special cleaning projects as assigned.
Deliver excellent customer service while ensuring safe and high-quality cleaning outcomes.
Understand and follow designated signs, symbols, and written instructions related to environmental services tasks.
Support Linen Services operations when needed, including distributing and stocking clean linens, managing inventory levels, stocking exchange / bulk carts, transporting carts, and maintaining linen rooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Basic comprehension of job-specific forms, documents, signs, symbols, and safety instructions.
Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and urgent situations.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
Flexibility to adjust schedule and duties per hospital needs.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Basic computer skills, including email usage and completion of online training modules.
Prior experience in hospital or hospitality housekeeping.
Experience operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, extractors, bovac, and roto machines.
Preferred Education
High School Diploma or GED.
