Category Intelligence Analyst

Role Summary

The Category Intelligence Analyst will transform complex data into actionable insights that drive category strategy in the consumer packaged goods industry. This role excels in synthesizing large data sets into clear business stories, crafting engaging presentations, and building intuitive dashboards. The analyst will support commercial teams with high-impact category and performance analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Data Synthesis & Storytelling : Analyze category, market, and syndicated data (e.g., UNIFY, Nielsen, Numerator) to identify trends and translate findings into clear, compelling narratives for commercial and leadership audiences.
  • Presentation Skills : Create high-impact presentations in PowerPoint, effectively communicating insights that influence key business decisions.
  • Dashboard & Report Creation : Build and maintain visually engaging Power BI dashboards and Excel-based reports focused on end-user clarity and business value.
  • Support & Training : Help commercial and business teams understand and navigate reports / dashboards, and act as a resource for interpreting category and performance data.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years in business analysis, category management or a related analytics field, preferably within CPG industry.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong experience with Power BI for dashboard / storyboard creation.
  • Familiarity with syndicated data sets such as UNIFY, Nielsen, Numerator (or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data analyses into simple, relevant stories and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience optimizing dashboards / reports with a user-focused design mindset.
  • Strong communication skills; able to explain findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Nice to have Skills

  • Experience with planogram software and / or JDA is a plus
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams (SQL, Alteryx, pipeline development) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DAX, Power Query, or other analytics tools is a plus, not required.
