Overview

The Intensive English Communication Program (IECP), housed under the Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts at The Pennsylvania State University, invites applications for part-time lecturer appointments for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 sessions. The IECP offers courses in academic English to prepare international students for undergraduate and graduate studies at American universities.

Position specific

The IECP seeks part-time lecturers to teach non-credit intensive English courses at one of four levels. Some course-related administrative duties are required of all appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Teach non-credit intensive English courses at one of four levels of instruction.
  • Perform some course-related administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in TESOL or related areas (e.g., TEFL, ESL) is required; pursuing such a degree or a BA-TESOL may be acceptable for some positions. Prior teaching experience in an intensive English program or an academic English preparation program is preferred.
  • Appointments entail approximately 10 hours per week for a duration of 8 weeks.
  • Successful candidates must show an active interest in ongoing professional development and have a knowledgeable command of the English language.
