Position Summary

Cedar Ridge is not only a bar that serves craft cocktails with Iowa-Made spirits, we are also a well recognized restaurant and event center. The Executive Chef holds a key role in our mission to create memorable connections by crafting food that incorporates or complements our products and connects to our guests. The Executive Chef will be responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen and kitchen staff. The Executive Chef will lead by example to motivate and inspire staff to provide excellent food product, guest attention and service. Will be detail oriented, approachable and have strong communication skills.

Primary Objectives and Key Result Areas :

  • Demonstrates high knowledge of Cedar Ridge food operations and services in order to increase food sales, promote the brand, and showcase products through special and private events and everyday services.
  • Hire, supervise, and lead training of kitchen staff based on company standards.
  • Ensures that the experience of each guest is both enjoyable and safe.
  • Responds to guest comments and concerns, seeking to provide the best possible dining experience.
  • Supervises and manages both shifts and events.
  • Oversees scheduling of staff, and product ordering while monitoring labor and food costs.
  • Sets excellent customer service and work examples, setting the standard for the staff.

Ongoing Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintains monthly food inventory, while also controlling cost and budget.
  • Creates and monitors scheduling of kitchen staff to ensure labor budgets are met.
  • Answer and monitor emails to ensure the 24 hour response policy is being upheld.
  • Lead and motivate hourly staff during each shift.
  • Oversees and executes updates of both specials and regular menus.
  • Promptly and professionally handle issues as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Ongoing employee development & training through one-on-ones and other performance reviews, feedback, etc.
  • Maintain close communication with, and provide assistance to the Director of Hospitality, Tasting Room Manager, and Event Managers when needed.
  • Create and maintain updated cleaning, opening and closing lists, ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness and order is adhered to by kitchen staff.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Minimum / Physical Requirements :

  • Must be Servsafe certified; CFPM
  • Must have active Iowa Food Handlers card
  • Capable of Physical demands in kitchen including the activity or condition existing from frequent to a rare amount of time including walking, carrying, reaching, standing, and stooping and working in a hot, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to frequently lift and move 40 to 50 pound cartons and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Full Time : Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays for events and banquets
  • Compensation : Based on experience
  • PTO : 10 days yearly pro-rated and available after 60 days of employment
  • 401k match after a year of employment
