Job Description
Join the dynamic culinary team at Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, a prestigious and vibrant hotel known for its exceptional service and elegant atmosphere.
We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Cook to enhance our banquet kitchen's offerings. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be part of a creative and dedicated team, crafting exquisite pastry items for our guests.
Located in the heart of Tempe, adjacent to Arizona State University, our hotel is a hub for guests attending conferences, weddings, and various events, making it a bustling environment to showcase your pastry skills.
Responsibilities
- Pastry Preparation : Assist in the preparation of daily breakfast pastries, desserts, and pastries for the hotel's multiple restaurants, ensuring each item meets the Omni's high standards of quality and presentation.
- Banquet and Catering Support : Play a key role in preparing desserts and pastries for all banquet and catering events, working closely with the pastry chef to execute menu items flawlessly.
- Quality Control : Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients and finished products, adhering to food safety standards and hotel policies.
- Creative Contributions : Collaborate with the pastry team to develop innovative pastry items and seasonal menus that align with the hotel's culinary direction.
- Kitchen Operations : Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment is handled safely and efficiently.
- Inventory Management : Assist in managing inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
Qualifications
- Experience : Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pastry kitchen is required. Experience in a hotel or banquet setting is preferred.
- Culinary Degree : A degree or certification in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Availability : Must have flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, as the kitchen operates 7 days per week.
- Skills : Strong baking and pastry skills, with the ability to produce a wide range of desserts and pastries.
- Creativity : A creative mindset with a passion for developing new and exciting pastry offerings.
- Team Player : Ability to work effectively in a team environment, supporting the pastry chef and collaborating with other kitchen staff.
- Attention to Detail : Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and presentation of each dish.
- Physical Stamina : Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
