Job description

We are excited to announce openings for the Psychiatric Safety Technician role! To qualify, candidates must successfully complete an examination to establish eligibility. We are currently seeking motivated individuals for multiple permanent full-time positions that involve working in various programs within a hospital setting.

Although prior experience is appreciated, it is not required. We encourage all interested applicants to submit a detailed application package that thoroughly outlines their work experience, as applications will be screened for the most competitive candidates. Preference will be given to SROA and Surplus Employees.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Escort individuals in the facility and community while ensuring safety.
  • Search for contraband, drugs, and weapons to maintain a secure environment.
  • Count and distribute eating utensils to prevent misuse.
  • Inspect mail for hazardous contraband and assess facilities for security breaches.
  • Monitor and intervene appropriately in behaviors that may lead to injury or escape attempts.
  • Participate collaboratively with the treatment team to enhance care and support for clients.
  • Administer nursing procedures, including medications and basic treatments.
  • Observe and report significant changes in clients' physical and mental health.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and students.
  • Plan and supervise therapeutic activities to promote self-reliance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, safeguarding the well-being of all individuals.
  • Engage in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements :

  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician.
  • Ability to learn and apply sound judgment in various situations.
  • Proficiency in following medical and safety procedures.
  • Strong observational and reporting abilities.
