Job description5–7 years of relevant automation / controls engineering experience Strong troubleshooting ability and ability to read / understand complex automation code Expertise in programming & debugging PLCs (e.g., Siemens S7-1500 strongly preferred Experience commissioning automation in live warehouse or industrial environments Working knowledge of commercial or custom WCS platforms Deep understanding of how WCS integrates WMS ? WCS ? PLC / automation layers Ability to analyze routing delays, system bottlenecks, and WCS / WMS workflow issues Experience debugging WMS task execution routing down to equipment level Experience mapping warehouse tasks from WMS / EWM into real-time equipment commands Integration experience with robotics, AS / RS, sorters, palletizers, conveyors, etc. Skilled in integrating Autonomous Mobile Robots into warehouse automation systems Experience integrating automation systems with IT infrastructure (Active Directory, cybersecurity best practices, networks) Understanding of GxP environments and Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP) Ensure process control systems for new / existing equipment align with site / global standards Support specification and integration of equipment with manufacturing / automation systems Act as a technical gatekeeper for controls standards and system compliance Maintain and improve process control systems Plan and execute automation work in coordination with production Serve as automation SME on cross-functional projects Support audits, inspections, and documentation requirements Apply systematic problem-solving and process improvement tools Participate in development of SOPs, best practices, and maintenance procedures Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance Support IT and operations initiatives Implement effective change management practices Ability to work in an open office with occasional distractions Travel up to 10% Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field Associate degree + 5 years engineering experience High School / GED + 7 years engineering experience Experience with : SAP EM, PLC, SCADA / DCS, MES, MS SQL, Oracle, Historian systems SAP EWM exposure a plus Experience with warehouse automation equipment (AS / RS, AGVs, AMRs, conveyors) Strong planning and execution skills Experience applying Lean / Six Sigma methodologies

Pay rate : $75 / hr on w2

Travel Required | Significant OT During Project Phases
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in PLC programming, WCS / WMS integration, and warehouse automation technologies . This role supports automation projects from design through commissioning in highly regulated, fast-paced environments.
Schedule & Travel
- Core Hours : Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM
- Overtime : Required as project ramps up (nights, weekends), ~60–80 hrs / week
- Travel : 2–3 weeks per quarter
- Q1 2026 : Weekly hours expected to exceed 40 hrs
