Director, Platform Product Manager

As we continue to support growth and expansion, we are seeking an experienced Director of Platform Product Manager to lead our efforts in building the next generation of our audio video learning platform.

The Director, Platform Product Manager (PPM) is a high-impact, strategic role reporting directly to the CPO, responsible for defining the vision and roadmap for the shared platform services that power both the Panopto VCMS and the Elai AI video solution. The PPM will drive scalability, performance, and security across the entire product suite. Additionally, this role will assist the CPO in evaluating Technology Integration Partnerships and conducting product reviews for M&A opportunities. This position is critical to Panopto's growth and technical foundation.

In this role, you will :

Enable Platform Enhancements & Execution

  • Build the Learning Platform Roadmap : Define, prioritize, and manage roadmap commitments for all shared components, including but not limited to :
  • AI enabled services and capabilities as platform components
  • Authentication and Authorization (SSO, identity management)
  • Core APIs and microservices utilized by both product teams
  • Data storage, analytics, and data-sharing services
  • Infrastructure scalability, reliability, and performance enhancements
  • Security and compliance features that apply across the platform.
  • Drive Architectural Alignment : Work closely with Engineering leadership across Product teams (Panopto and Elai) to ensure shared platform services meet their needs, promote reuse, and maintain technical consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Define Success : Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for platform health, adoption, and performance.
  • Be the Internal Voice of the Learning Platform : Act as the champion and communicator of platform capabilities, trade-offs, and future vision to internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Corporate Development
  • Engage and foster engagement with customers : Work in conjunction with the colleagues in Product and Customer Experience to engage in Customer Councils and Advisor Boards. This includes getting advice into roadmap efforts and market research.
  • Technology Integration Partnerships : Assist the CPO in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing technology partners to enhance Panopto's product ecosystem. This includes defining integration requirements, assessing market fit, and helping to manage the partnership lifecycle.
  • M&A Review and Due Diligence : Support the CPO in the technical and product review of potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A) targets. This includes assessing the target company's technology stack, product fit, integration complexity, and value proposition alignment with the Panopto platform goals.

Required Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum of 8+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on B2B SaaS platforms, API products, or platform services.
  • Technical Acumen : Proven ability to understand complex technical architectures, distributed systems, and modern cloud technologies. While not an engineering role, you must be able to speak fluently with engineers about design trade-offs and technical debt.
  • Strategic Thinking : Exceptional ability to translate business goals into a clear, prioritized, and technical platform execution plan.
  • Communication & Influence : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Marketing,
  • Experience in a fast-growing, private equity-backed environment is advantageous.
  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with AI Services and Platforms : Prior work or familiarity with integrating or enabling platform services for AI / ML model deployment, inference APIs, or GenAI services is a significant plus.
  • Exceptional Communication and Presentation Skills : Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical platform strategies and roadmaps clearly to diverse audiences, including engineers, product managers, and executive leadership. Must be proficient in writing detailed technical specifications and delivering engaging presentations to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Experience in EdTech or L&D Sectors : Prior product management experience within the higher education or corporate Learning & Development (L&D) markets, particularly with VCMS or enterprise content solutions.
  • Partnership Experience : Experience in evaluating and managing technology partnerships or involvement in technical due diligence for M&A activity is a strong plus.
  • M&A / Integration Lifecycle Experience : Direct experience participating in the post-merger integration of acquired products or technologies into a unified platform.
  • Understanding of Security / Compliance Standards : Familiarity with key enterprise compliance standards relevant to data security and privacy in the corporate and academic spaces (e.g., GDPR, FERPA, SOC 2).
  • $140,000 - $150,000 a year

    The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 USD per year. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of the compensation package. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to : job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
