Journeyman Electrician

We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary :

Safely perform journeyman-level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Collin College facilities. Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Required Qualifications :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, operate, and repair electrical equipment and systems of all types in accordance with the latest NC guidelines.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all existing electrical systems and equipment.
• Keep all work areas and related electrical equipment and / or tool rooms clean at all times.
• Take care of all tools belonging to the institution that are being used by the electrical department.
• Provide quick and efficient response to campus emergencies.
• Perform other similar and related duties as assigned that utilize the employee's education, experience and unique skill set.
• Actively participate and complete training, personal development, and continuing education.
• Maintain compliance with national, state and local codes.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and / or hazards. Occasional outside work. Frequent physical effort required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Three (3) years experience as a licensed journeyman in the electrical trade required.

Licenses and Certifications

Journeyman electrician license required.

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Hiring Maximum

$63,774.00

Compensation is determined based on experience.
