Public Transit Vehicle Operator

The City of Clovis, California is seeking a Public Transit Vehicle Operator. The salary for this position ranges from $27.85 to $33.84 hourly. The job is located in Clovis, CA and is classified as Extra Help Part-Time with job number 2600034 in the General Services Department. The position is open until filled.

Under general supervision, the role involves operating a public transit vehicle for either general public, fixed-route service, or demand-response service. Responsibilities include performing light vehicle maintenance, assisting elderly and disabled riders, and performing related work as required.

Examples of duties include driving a motor coach on fixed-route systems, providing passenger comfort and safety, performing small errands, inspecting and fueling the motor coach, operating lift equipment, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness.

Typical qualifications include a valid California Commercial Driver's License with Passenger (P) endorsement, a current standard First Aid Certificate, and a current CPR Certificate. Education and experience requirements include three years of licensed experience in the operations of motor vehicles and a minimum of one year of work experience and/or training involving public transportation or completion of the City of Clovis Transit Division new driver training program.

Physical demands include medium work, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and performing various physical activities such as bending, stooping, and walking.
