General Purpose
The Director of Staff Development (DSD) is responsible to plan and implement facility orientation, job skills training, in-service education, and a Certification Training Program (if applicable) for the nursing assistants as required by regulations. Work with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. The DSD also provides direct resident / patient care.
Essential Duties
Supervisory Requirements
Assist with the overall supervision and management of the staff.
Qualification
Education and / or Experience
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and possession of a valid license from the state to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational / Practical Nurse (LVN or LPN). BSN preferred.
One (1) year of experience providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility, in addition to one (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing.
Two (2) or more years of experience preferred, preferably in a long-term care facility.
Language Skills
Ability to read technical procedures.
Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current Registered Nursing License (RN) or LVN / LPN License.
Current CPR certification.
Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
Must maintain all required continuing education / licensing.
Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing at all times.
