Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records through account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries. The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of financial data by researching and resolving discrepancies, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability in financial operations.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties
- General Accounting Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries for daily and monthly transactions
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a weekly and monthly basis
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
- Monitor and maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records in compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
- Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports
- Provide variance analysis and insights on key financial trends
- Help prepare audit schedules and financial documentation for external auditors
- Policy, Process, & Compliance
- Follow all accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
- Partner with auditors and internal stakeholders to support audit and compliance activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and external regulatory requirements
- Participate in the development and documentation of accounting procedures and policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations
- Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls
- Other Contributions
- Support special projects, system upgrades, and process improvement initiatives as assigned
- Work closely with other accounting staff to ensure cross-team support and alignment
- General Support
- Take on additional responsibilities or interim assignments as business needs evolve

Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred in AccountingSolid understanding of accounting principles and financial processesSkills & Experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and OutlookStrong computer literacy : preferred experience with ERP automation systemsProven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentDetail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrityStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teamsOther Requirements
Must complete all Whitsons and other mandated training as requiredWork Schedule : Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
