Overview :
We are seeking a Risk-Informed Design Integration Engineer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the development and maintenance of reactor plant architecture and programs, ensuring seamless integration across complex technical disciplines, including design, analysis, licensing, and testing. Your expertise will help us meet and exceed our stakeholder, regulatory, operational, and commercial objectives related to non-light water reactor (non-LWR) design.
Key Responsibilities :
Program Documentation : Develop, manage, and maintain Risk-Informed Design Program documentation, ensuring alignment with plant design activities.
Risk-Informed Strategy Implementation : Research, design, and implement risk-informed bases and strategies in accordance with NEI 18-04 methodology for non-LWR design and licensing activities.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration : Interface effectively with various design disciplines to allocate safety classifications and clarify the safety basis with design teams.
Regulatory Alignment : Ensure all licensing and program requirements are clearly defined and integrated into the design, in line with project strategies.
Safety and Risk Analysis Oversight : Review, coordinate, and oversee integrated safety and risk analyses to assess impacts on the risk-informed safety basis.
Technical Leadership : Lead and support design reviews and the resolution of cross-functional technical issues, guiding teams towards effective integration.
Licensing Documentation Support : Facilitate the integration of risk-informed program information into regulatory documents essential for licensing nuclear facilities.
Issue Communication : Keep Project Management and Engineering Management informed of significant technical issues and emerging risks.
Continuous Improvement : Promote ongoing learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to drive quality and identify efficiency opportunities within engineering design.
Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum of 6 years in nuclear facility design or operations, with expertise in plant or systems engineering, design engineering, or licensing.
Education : Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering) or a Senior Reactor Operator license or equivalent.
Technical Proficiency : Demonstrated skills in conducting and reviewing technical analyses, including risk assessments, probabilistic risk assessments (PRA), and safety analyses.
Initiative & Independence : Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and actively demonstrate initiative in a collaborative environment.
Regulatory Knowledge : Solid understanding of NRC regulations and guidance; previous interaction with NRC staff is a plus.
Leadership : Exhibit strong leadership skills in driving collaboration among design, licensing, safety analysis, and PRA teams.
Team Orientation : Proven ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams and diverse engineering disciplines.
Adaptability : Capacity to rapidly acquire new knowledge and apply it in a fast-paced environment while organizing information clearly for diverse audiences.
Innovation : A track record of innovative thinking and problem-solving within an engineering context, especially in conceptual designs.
Quality Standards Experience : Familiarity with quality standards for design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
Integrity : High degree of trust, open communication, and respect for teamwork.

Work Conditions : Ability to manage extended sitting periods, perform visual and audio-focused tasks, and handle minimal physical exertion (up to 25 pounds lifting).
Travel Requirements : Occasional travel may be required (0-10%).
