Summary

The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement : "To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.

Sales Generation and Guest Service

  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service to each Guest
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with the Team
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
  • Remain consistent on personal sales and look for opportunities to impact Teammates' presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG)
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area
  • Know exchange and return procedures and turn them into opportunities
  • Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty activities (fit appointments, Buckle credit card, guest connect)
  • Investigate and expand Guest selection using inventory tools and technology
  • Maintain and build Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
  • Lead by example with showmanship, customer service and attentiveness
  • Recognize and communicate Guest levels with the Team
  • Ask business-driven and showmanship questions to managers and teammates
  • Be coachable and open to managerial guidance
  • Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the Manager is present

Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development

  • Recognize recruiting opportunities using jobs and referrals
  • Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new Teammates to meet Buckle's standards
  • Maintain a positive attitude and floor culture
  • Demonstrate personal dress code to encourage fashion trends
  • Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking
  • Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks
  • Demonstrate denim showmanship and fit card results through Teammates and Guests
  • Create and develop results in your department and balance actions with leadership through mid-week check-ins
  • Demonstrate leadership during segment with Guest awareness, product involvement, team communication and guest data collection
  • Visual Merchandise Management

  • Own and influence product through zone ownership : product knowledge, placement, passion, and lifecycle
  • Weekly checklists, track results, and ensure compliance with Visual Standards
  • Assign Zones and projects to Teammates with learning goals
  • Ensure adherence to Visual Standards and Weekly Visual Checklist
  • Demonstrate new tools and instructional videos related to zone ownership
  • Recognize merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Store Manager
  • Provide store tours and maintain an organized sales floor with displays of new freight
  • Operations

  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as needed
  • Understand and utilize planning tools and opening / closing checklists
  • Monitor for security risks and implement Loss Prevention practices
  • Follow all Loss Prevention guidelines and handle returns and exchanges per Buckle guidelines
  • Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with Guests or Teammates
  • Navigate tools on the home page and provide guidance to non-sales positions
  • Complete scheduled shifts and cover shifts as needed
  • Provide feedback to Store Manager and Leadership Team regarding merchandise handling
  • Report policy violations and concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, and Human Resources in a timely, confidential manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store aligned with Buckle's mission
  • Understand and apply Buckle's Code of Ethics and policies
  • Supervisory and Leadership

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback with peers and Management
  • Supportive of Leadership and store growth
  • Maintain professional, mature relationships with Teammates
  • Fulfill Buckle's mission while providing high levels of customer service and teamwork
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

    High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related retail experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this Job, the Teammate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and jump; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The Teammate is occasionally required to sit. Physical ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs throughout the store and backroom. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    Teammates regularly work in a retail store setting with a typically moderate noise level.
