Event Operations Manager
This position is responsible for overseeing all event operations at the Fairgrounds, ensuring that facilities are properly prepared, maintained, and operated for all scheduled events. It works in coordination with the Fairgrounds Maintenance Technicians and other assigned staff or contractors to meet event needs, including setup, on-site support, technical assistance (AV equipment, PA systems, phones, data), and post-event cleanup. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with the Fairgrounds Event Coordinator to provide professional, efficient, and seamless experience for clients. It also plays a key role in coordinating maintenance personnel to support event operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities : (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
- Maintain venue quality by ensuring facilities are clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing for events.
- Conduct systematic pre-event inspections to verify setup requirements and ensure a first-class presentation.
- Be available during events to address client needs, monitor safety and security concerns, and protect County assets.
- Work with event holders on last-minute preparations, including verifying sound, lights, door access, and arena grooming.
- Provide exemplary customer service to enhance client satisfaction and event success.
- Interact with event stakeholders, including Castle Rock Fire Dept. (fire code compliance), Sheriff (security needs), hired security, parking staff, service technicians, and volunteers.
- Represent the Fairgrounds at Fair Board and Committee meetings when necessary.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly facility inspections to ensure event readiness.
- Drive and operate a variety of motorized and powered equipment, including heavy and light equipment, for event setup, teardown, and arena / grounds maintenance.
- Document materials and services provided for events to ensure accurate billing.
- Ensure compliance with fire codes, security measures, and other regulatory requirements.
- Follow biosecurity best practices to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Set up and break down event spaces, including chairs, tables, stages, and panels.
- Support Fair & Rodeo activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
A high school diploma or GED equivalentTwo years of commercial building maintenance and repair experience is preferredOne year in a customer-facing role is requiredOne year of experience in the event industry is preferred.A combination of education and experience may be considered.Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations : A valid Colorado driver's license or the ability to obtain before hire is required.
