Alaris Health at Hamilton Par, a 260 bed-skilled nursing Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, seeks a recreation assistant to plan, organize and direct resident activity programs, which may include varied an diversified programming for different cognitive levels of resident function from Wii competitions to bingo to coffee carts and everything in between. Additional responsibilities include :
- High school education or high school equivalency diploma is preferred.
- Full command of the English language (written, read and spoken)
- Attend a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education programs provided by the Center to maintain certification and successfully complete a state-approved certified nursing assistant program
- Possess a positive demeanor and the ability to communicate with everyone from residents to the general public
- Enrolled in college classes or completed a degree in a healthcare field : Recreation Therapy, Art / Music Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Nursing, Health Administration OR
- Eligible for NCCAP; AAC or ADC Certification or NCTRC; CTRS certification OR have all of the following :
- A High School Diploma
- At least 2 years’ experience working with geriatrics or disabled adults
- Certificate of Completion of the 90 hour MEPAP I / II course
- Complete a minimum of 10 CEU’s per year
- Comfortable working both as an individual contributor and part of a larger team
- Great customer service and interpersonal skills
