Analyze current Technology Information Systems (TIS) procedures and policies within the district. Assist with the design of software to meet district TIS requirements. Develop software, procedures, and documentation conforming to the designed systems. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Develop highly complex and cross-functional solutions using current enterprise systems in order to improve district processes to ensure the accurate collection, integration, formatting, and reporting of all data as required by the state.
- Must have an in-depth understanding of the district environment and strong analytical and communication skills in order to provide technical guidance.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Integration Services for the purpose of data integration on large-scale projects requiring extensive data Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL).
- Develop and maintain applications and databases by evaluating the district administrative team's needs, analyzing solutions, and implementing software systems under the guidance of the Software Engineer Manager.
- Work with various district teams, administration, internal and external users, and external vendors to acquire software development requirement specifications and ensure that automated systems support district policies and procedures.
- Manage time efficiently in order to work on different projects simultaneously and meet deadlines established by the Software Engineer Manager.
- Work independently or with a team of software engineers and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Develop and deliver training, written system specifications, and user manuals of custom applications produced by the software engineering team.
- Ability to interpret and develop documentation, including flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
- Prepare and provide project status updates to TIS administration.
- Provide extensive support on district-wide Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system applications.
- Provide guidance to other software engineers and TIS team.
- Continuous research and analysis of trending technologies and their practicality in our current environment.
- Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Administration or related field and five (5) years practical, hands-on experience in systems analysis / design and development of computer applications to include SQL, Transact-SQL (T-SQL), and Reporting Services. Experience in the data warehouse integration process. Understand the advantages of data warehouse technology and how they apply to business problems. Experience in web application development using Microsoft products. Ability to work with diverse groups and possess effective written and oral communication skills.
Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to work with frequent interruptions; prolonged use of computers and occasional prolonged and irregular hours; occasional district-wide travel. Valid Texas / New Mexico driver's license; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
