Mgr - Distribution Center Operations

The Manager of Distribution Center Operations will oversee operations within our Weekend shift Saturday, Sunday and Monday a specified shift of a regional distribution center, ensuring that all processes are running smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This role will involve managing, both directly and indirectly, team members and supervisors, coordinating workflow, and addressing any operational issues that arise during the shift.

Core functions include : leading, developing, and motivating shift employees; setting goals and providing shift direction; fostering a positive and productive work environment; overseeing shift operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy; coordinating with other shift managers to ensure seamless operations; ensuring all shipments are properly documented and comply with company policies and procedures; managing resources and adhering to approved budgets; having full authority over personnel actions; implementing and maintaining quality assurance standards and procedures; addressing and resolving escalated issues related to order fulfillment; promoting a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations; conducting regular safety audits and training sessions; investigating safety incidents and reporting results to leadership; acting as the main point of contact for shift-related issues and concerns; communicating effectively with team members, management, and other departments; preparing and presenting shift reports and performance data to management; identifying areas for improvement and implementing process enhancements; staying updated with industry trends and best practices; leading or participating in special projects and initiatives aimed at improving distribution center operations.

Qualifications and requirements include : high school diploma or GED required; bachelors degree in logistics, business, or related field preferred; 6+ years of experience in operations or logistics required; 3+ years of experience at a leadership level with similar responsibilities preferred; none required licenses; experienced in leading a team of direct and indirect reports; ability to respond to customer or carrier requests in a timely and professional manner; ability to adapt to changes while maintaining productivity measures; excellent organizational and time management skills; skilled in Microsoft Office and ERP / WMS software; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; effective communication and interpersonal skills; minimal travel may be required.

Supervisor responsibilities include : plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs the employees within the department function. Has direct reports.

Physical requirements include : this position is subject to medium work : exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently; this position is subject to the following physical activities : lifting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing; the worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; this position will be subject to both an office environment and warehouse environment, working near the shipping and receiving docks.
