Chief Engineer ($58.25 / hr)

Position Overview :

Assists and acts in the absence of the Director of Engineering to oversee the functionality and safety of the facility, including buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems, and grounds, in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities include directing general construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. The role involves assigning, verifying, and documenting routine maintenance and repairs, communicating with officials for permits and inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Supports capital projects and property rehabilitations, participates in interviews, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff. Maintains a friendly and courteous demeanor, communicates effectively, ensures tools and equipment are safe, maintains maintenance records, and conducts safety inspections.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel or building management experience, preferably with Hyatt.
• Engineering / Facility Management degree preferred; journeyman or engineering diploma is a plus.
• Experience operating high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, HVAC systems is mandatory.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; highly organized and results-oriented.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs and familiarity with computerized maintenance systems is advantageous.
• Demonstrates high standards of performance and safety consciousness.
• Leadership experience in a unionized setting is an asset.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects with a focus on results.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
