Benefits Member Support Specialist - Remote

Led by the values and mission of the organization, the Benefits Member Support Specialist   has exceptional communication skills and phone etiquette, can troubleshoot issues while showing empathy and patience, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where a large portion of the work involves assisting members with their medical claims and benefits questions. They are a team player and willing to assist co-workers as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Handle customer service calls regarding all benefits offered by the employer
• Review and investigate medical claims on behalf of members, collaborating with providers and carriers to confirm the claim was processed accurately and resolve any discrepancies.
• Communicate benefit eligibility based on Plan Descriptions
• Explain benefit plan options
• Outreach to providers, clients and carriers as needed
• Problem-solve and collaborate with co-workers on issues where help is needed
• Use excellent telephone and customer service skills and etiquette
• Maintain attention to detail and a strong work ethic
• Manage time efficiently
• Help maintain positive working relationships with callers and co-workers; always ethical, professional and kind
• Enter and maintain call notes with details and accuracy in the tracking application
• Utilize applicable databases to provide efficient and effective information
• Assess and handle challenging callers and / or escalate calls to the manager when needed
• Willing to assist with occasional tasks / projects within the Benefits department that may not be part of daily responsibilities
• Trained and expected to handle enrollment calls as needed and support potential extended hours during Open Enrollment.
