Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance Supervisor, performs preventative and routine maintenance / repairs on all campus facilities and equipment. Work scope includes, but is not limited to; painting, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical work. Participates in getting rooms move-in ready and the on-call rotation.
- Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or rollers.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Applies paint to simulate wood grain, marble, brick, or stonework.
- Cuts stencils, and brushes and sprays lettering and decorations on surfaces.
- Sands surfaces between coats and polishes final coat to specified finish.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary
- Mixes and matches colors of paint, stain, or varnish.
- Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun or putty knife.
- Maintains all painting equipment in a safe and proper operating condition.
- Operates all equipment in a safe manner in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor or occupant of residence.
Educational Attainment High School diploma or GED, Associate Degree in related field preferred
Licensure / Certification
Specialized Knowledge / Skills Knowledge of paint systems and techniques required.
Kind & Length of Experience 3-years experience in repair, papering, and painting in a maintenance-related capacity.
