Certified Recovery Peer Advocate Full Time

Position Summary : The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate provides non-clinical peer support services that facilitate outreach to engage individuals considering entering treatment, reinforce patients’ treatment retention, and connect patients to community recovery-based services.

Job Duties & Essential Functions :

• Able to engage patients into treatment and / or other services.
• Supports retention of admitted patients; provides outreach to identified in-need patients.
• Supports referrals made by Treatment Team.
• Assists patients with applying for benefits.
• Provides non-clinical crisis supports.
• Educates patients about various recovery models; links patients to formal recovery supports.
• Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
• Participate in in-service programs.
• Participate in annual recertification training, compliance training, HIPPA training.

Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Education & Qualifications :

BLS required.

Physical Demands :

Adequate vision and hearing to write, type, enter data, answer phones and communicate with staff, clients, and other departments or agencies.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

As part of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) combines the best in academic and community medicine, improving access to advanced medical care for residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island. With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County’s first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905. SBELIH provides care to 25,000 year-round residents and expanding to 60,000 summer residents with comprehensive healthcare solutions, including behavioral health, medical-surgical, orthopedics and general surgery, wound care, interventional pain management and GI, advanced ambulatory care, diagnostic, and physical therapy services.
