Diesel Mechanic
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic to support operations at the Ready Mix Plant located in Rockville, MD. The Diesel Mechanic primary focus is to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and engine problems using diagnostic tools and inspections.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics to identify root causes of equipment issues.
- Conducts routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life and improve performance.
- Replaces or rebuilds faulty parts using hand tools, power tools, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Document all repairs, parts used, and labor hours in service reports or maintenance logs in compliance with company and industry standards.
- Lead complex engine overhauls and major component rebuilds, ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct in-depth performance testing and system calibrations after repairs to verify optimal engine and equipment operation.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education : High school diploma or equivalentField of Study Preferred : Diesel Mechanics Technology (Preferred)Required Work Experience : Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment.Travel Requirements : Travel as needed within the region.Mechanical & Technical Expertise : Strong knowledge of diesel systems, including engines, hydraulics, electrical, and fuel systems.Diagnostic & Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to troubleshoot engine or system issues using diagnostic tools.Possession of relevant certifications such as ASE Diesel Certification or OEM-specific training (Preferred)Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, capable of solving complex mechanical issues with minimal supervision.Proficient with diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and repair software for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.Independence & Time Management : Ability to manage repairs on-site, prioritize tasks, and complete work without direct supervision.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.Additional Requirements :
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
