GENERAL SUMMARY :
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the accuracy and productivity of the day-to-day activities of the accounting function. This includes overseeing processes related to accounts payable, cash disbursements and balancing, general accounting (consolidation, general ledger, prepaid / fixed assets), financial analysis (external and internal reporting, forecasting, and budgeting), and related policies and procedures. Responsibilities include monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes, including preparation and evaluation of operating plans and budgets. Focuses on a high level of responsive, positive service to credit union employees, departments, and the membership. Ensures the credit union's accounting records are clear, orderly, and accurate for regulatory exams and auditors.
Salary range is $82,623.08 - $108,442.79. Job Grade, EX 15. Final salary is dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications.

Requires the employee to sit and stand a majority of the time. Infrequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. may be required. Some travel may be necessary in Pima, Pinal and Maricopa Counties.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS :
1. Directs the daily accounting operations and staffing of the accounting and A / P functions.
2. Mentors and manages the accounting team through cross-training opportunities and timely feedback
3. Ensures integrity, accuracy and timeliness of accounting transactions.
4. Manages the month-end close process and review procedures, including reviewing the adequacy of accruals and reasonableness of operating results prior to closing the period and preparing month end reports
5. Leads the development of the credit union's general ledger system, including account and subaccount structures, cost centers, formats, and guidance to be used in measuring and managing the credit union's operations.
6. Assists the AVP Finance in the annual budgeting process and other projects, including the preparation of analysis and presentations that will be shared with other areas of the credit union.
7. Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues.
8. Ensures compliance with GAAP financial accounting rules, regulatory guidance, and industry technical standards. Proposes appropriate changes to the credit union's accounting and reporting policies, procedures, and practices, and sees these changes are implemented.
9. Reviews all disbursements performed by the A / P function for accuracy and proper approval level.
10. Manages relationships with external and internal auditors, and assists in internal control reviews including NCUA and State regulatory examinations and external audits.
11. Maintains departmental procedures ensuring accounting processes are properly documented current with operations. Looks for more efficient and effective practices and encourages staff to do the same.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
